Millbrook races hard; falls to Gunnery and Westover

Coach Havard
Millbrook girls raced the Gunnery and Westover in the first home race of the season. Coming off their division II victory at the Canterbury Invitational, Gunnery was the team to beat, and even without two of their top five runners, they were able to bring home wins against both Millbrook and Westover.
The race was won by senior Gianna Russillo of Gunnery in 23:22, a relatively slower time that reflects the heat and the challenge of Millbrook's course.  Gunnery and Westover alternated 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5, until Anna Wilson '21 broke into contention in 6th place, with a significantly improved time over her race at Canterbury.  Liizzy Finch '21 was next in 7th.  Hannah Coon '23 was next in for Millbrook in 12th place, gutting out a tough race for her.  Eliza Withers-Clarke '23, Tracy He '22, and Anna Metzger '21 took 15th, 17th, and 19th respectively.  The girls finished well and see the work ahead of them.  Next week's race is at Suffield Academy at 2:30 pm.  Hope to see you there!
