Gordon Lock’s CES, called Remain in Light: A Light and Sculpture Installation in the Chapel, transformed what is perhaps Millbrook’s most iconic space, Flagler Memorial Chapel, into an immersive art piece of rich color and quiet. A lightbox designed and built by Gordon dominated the altar and the standard lightbulbs were replaced with multicolored LEDS for the installation. Varying combinations of color and intensity of light yielded endlessly varying experiences of the piece for viewers.
Immersive art surrounds the viewer. The chapel is a familiar place to the Millbrook community and, said Gordon, “a rich place to be with others.” Experiencing the space awash in rich colors is transformative. Gordon’s CES capped the explorations of light, color, and shape he has undertaken in his artwork throughout his time at Millbrook.
