Sarah Eagen
Sarah Eagen brings home Mustang of the Week honors after her performance at the New England championships. The boys and girls cross-country teams traveled to participate in the tournament, held on the annual Millbrook-Pomfret Day. Sarah knocked almost 45 seconds off her best time of the season. Along the way, she beat every Pomfret runner, as did teammate and classmate Juliet Drury. Sarah has been a consistent presence for the entire fall season. Coach Havard says she is the consummate teammate as she competes everyday, pushes herself to do more, and is the first to celebrate and encourage her teammates’ accomplishments.

Girls cross-country finishes 17-7-0 on the season—an impressive record for the squad. We wish them luck as they enter their winter season commitments.
Eli Crystal
Varsity football enters the Mustang of the Week game at the close of the season. Despite a difficult loss to arch-rival Pomfret at home, Eli had an exceptional game. He did all he could, on and off the field, to lead the Mustangs to victory. Eli made numerous exceptional plays all game long, including a game-changing, one-handed interception. He also continued to celebrate his teammates’ performances throughout the day, encouraging them to stay positive and stay the course. Coach Botchway speaks highly of Eli’s leadership development throughout the fall, both on and off the field with the young team.

Although the team did not end the season how they anticipated, there is much to be proud of this year and much to be excited about for next year. A majority of the team is returning as they are underclassmen.

Bea Zorub
Girls varsity field hockey enters the Mustang of the Week competition as Bea Zorub earns the honors for her strong performance last week. Field Hockey had a commanding 6-1 win over Holy Child on Wednesday. Last week in net, Bea only allowed 3 goals over the two games, and she combined for 20 saves. The field hockey team looks ahead to the final week of the regular season where they will travel to Miss Porter’s on Wednesday and host Pomfret on Saturday as a part of the Pomfret Day contests.
Chase Jackson
Boys varsity soccer is no stranger to the Mustang of the Week award. However, this week we have a new recipient: Chase Jackson. Chase’s brother, Carter, took home the award early last month. Boys soccer only had one game last week where they defeated Brunswick on the road with a final tally of 6-2. With this win, they improved to a three-game winning streak. Chase has been a large reason for the team’s recent success. In the last three contests, Chase has been a consistent offensive threat and has been a big reason the team has averaged seven goals per game in this span.

Boys soccer looks ahead to the final week of the regular season where they will host Cheshire on Tuesday and Pomfret on Saturday, as a part of the Pomfret Day contests. With two wins they could secure a playoff seed to lengthen their season.
