Warner Gallery Fall Exhibit: Natural Gestures

The fall art exhibit at the Warner Gallery, Natural Gestures, opened on Friday in the Holbrook Arts Center. Curator and Art Instructor Kiernan Pazdar said she drew inspiration from the dance world when compiling the group exhibit, which celebrates Wendy Klemperer, Molly Haynes, Brett McCormack, Omar Lalani, Elizabeth Castagna, Wayne Toepp, and Stephan Sagmiller—artists who portray their connections to the natural world through various mediums.

Natural Gestures features a large movement drawing created on-site by Castagna, complimented by contrasting photographs of greenery (Sagmiller), striking oil and acrylic paintings (Toepp, Lalani, and McCormack), an intricate weaving (Haynes), and a spiky porcupine sculpture (Klemperer). Pazdar eloquently explained the ephemeral component of the exhibit: “Everything hangs together and interacts in that space and time. The artists speak to each other, the work becomes activated by the students looking at it, and then it disappears from that moment in time.” Those interested in experiencing this fleeting moment have until December 13, when the show will disappear.
