Assistant Athletic Trainer
Millbrook School seeks a full-time assistant athletic trainer for the 2024-2025 school year starting in August 2024. This position will report to the head athletic trainer and will work closely with all members of the Athletic Department.
ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER

Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer
Job responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for working with the head athletic trainer in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses of student-athletes
- Assist in the daily health care of student-athletes and athletic training room operations by providing initial injury and illness evaluations, follow-up evaluations, wound care, and emergency care
- Communicate daily with the head athletic trainer and coaches about injured athletes’ progress and readiness to play
- Communicate regularly with the school doctor and nurses in the health center about injured athletes
- Assist in concussion management of return to learn and return to play progressions
- Record and maintain appropriate medical records using the school’s electronic medical records systems (Magnus and Sportsware)
- Daily practice and game coverage. This includes occasional off-campus events.
- Maintains the order, cleanliness, and safety of the athletic training room
- Opportunity to participate as a preceptor in clinical instruction of athletic training students
- Assist the Athletic Department in the management of the equipment room
- Afternoon, evening, and weekend hours are required
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000. When determining placement in the salary range, Millbrook School considers experience, the number of years working at Millbrook School, and other factors permitted by law.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training required
- Current BOC certification required
- New York State Athletic Training Licensure/Certification or eligible
- Current First Aid/CPR-AED Professional Rescuer Certification
- Must be committed to working with young people in a diverse community and be able to communicate with a diverse population
- Ability to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices
- Experience using Magnus or Sportsware beneficial
- Schedule: Monday through Saturday following the academic calendar (mid-August through early June)
- Occasional travel within New England for neutral site games or post-season play
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Must have a clean & valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS (with or without the aid of a mechanic device)
- Must function independently and be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be able to work in person, on campus.
- Must be flexible and willing to adapt to new technology, teaching methods and/or schedules.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
- Must be willing & able to travel & attend sporting events on nights and weekends.
- Faculty members must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical athletic training room conditions.
- Outdoor weather and/or indoor conditions while supporting athletic teams.
- Bursts of heavy traffic, congestion, and teenage exuberance throughout the day.
