Shane has always been interested in both the craft and power of storytelling, and his time at Millbrook provided a foundation for him to pursue those interests and embrace his curiosity about all the ways that stories are formed and shared, from creative inspirations to mechanics and workflows.
After majoring in English and philosophy at Tufts, he came right back to Millbrook to join the faculty as an English and photography teacher. He went on to pursue a master's degree in fine arts/theater from Sarah Lawrence College and worked in technical theater on off-off- and off-Broadway shows before producing independent films and working in production management on commercials. He transitioned to television, working at MTV and then VH1, before joining VICELAND/VICE TV just after that channel launched. Near the end of 2021, he joined Story Syndicate, a film and television production company in Brooklyn, where he is currently the head of Production and Operations, Documentary, and Nonfiction.
