Director of Alumni Engagement

The director of alumni engagement reports directly to the director of advancement operations. This position is charged with leading alumni giving and engagement efforts. The director of alumni engagement is responsible for fostering meaningful connections between the school and its alumni community, both locally and globally. They provide strategic direction to ensure the development and execution of engaging programs and services that enhance alumni involvement and support institutional advancement efforts. In collaboration with the director of advancement operations, the director of alumni engagement sets and meets a variety of goals based on institutional priorities.
Key responsibilities:
Support the director of advancement operations in implementing and executing a dynamic yearly solicitation plan that inspires alumni, parents, past parents, and friends to give to the Millbrook Annual Fund.
Assist the associate directors of principle and leadership gifts, with prospect management, travel planning, and administrative support as needed.
Participate with other advancement staff members in department‐wide events.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Key responsibilities with the endorsement & support of the director of advancement operations:
  • Manage all annual fund campaigns, direct mail, and phone/contact/thank-a-thon efforts.
  • Manage all parent and alumni volunteer fundraising committees.
  • Lead an annual strategic outreach plan that includes networking, mentoring, and regional and affinity events to enhance the school’s relationships with its alumni and build a broader base of alumni engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Redesign and implement a more robust Alumni Association to better engage, cultivate, and steward Millbrook alumni.
  • Design and implement an education program for VIth form students that includes resume writing, LinkedIn training, and campus events to better connect our current students with the value of staying involved, continuing to network, and in giving back to Millbrook after graduation.
  • Develop and maintain an active class agent program that focuses on alumni engagement and giving.
  • Develop a comprehensive reunion giving program that engages and solicits funds from all class years, but specifically those classes celebrating milestones.
Education and qualification requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge, Google applications, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Millbrook School alum preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel extensively and on a regular basis domestically.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to compellingly articulate Millbrook’s mission and authentic needs to donors and prospects.
  • Build strong relationships with teammates, campus partners, and the external community.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a range of work styles, talents, and experiences.
Specific requirements / essential functions
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be able to work in person, on campus.
  • Must have the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must have patience and enthusiasm when dealing with personnel, students, and families.
  • Must be proficient in the composition of written communication.
 
Physical & sensory requirements (with or without the aid of a medical device)
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
    Must function independently.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
  • Must be able to travel and attend school/community events on nights and weekends.
 
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $60,000--$75,000. Placement in the salary range is based on experience, education, and all other factors permitted by law.
