Student-Led Angel Tree Project Spreads Holiday Cheer

‘Tis the season to share with those in need, and Harper King ’25 has made it easy for the Millbrook community to give by setting up an Angel Tree in Casertano Hall.

“Growing up, one of my favorite things during the holiday season was going to pick out a kid from the angel tree that my church hosts every year,” she said. “Since coming to Millbrook, I have missed getting to do it, so this year I decided to bring an Angel Tree to Millbrook!”

Millbrook’s Angel Tree is filled with Christmas wishes from local children whose families struggle to make ends meet. Students, faculty, and staff can pick a paper ornament with a child’s name and wish from the tree, purchase the requested gift, and drop it off at the Barn by December 10.

The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie will distribute the gifts to the kids in time for opening on Christmas morning.

According to the Salvation Army, the first Angel Tree went up in Lynchburg, VA, in 1979. Since then, the program has become a staple of the holiday season for many organizations.

Thank you, Harper, for bringing the joy of Angel Tree giving to Millbrook. Hopefully it will catch on and become an annual tradition!
