The Millbrook Mustangs traveled to Hamden Hall for the Western New England Class C semi-final game, where, according to league rules, co-champions would be named from the winners of both games.
The Mustangs came out ready to play, and the first two innings were scoreless. Natalia Danyluk notched some key strikeouts for the Mustangs, and Kelly Naula caught a rocket line drive, keeping the game scoreless into the third inning.
Abby Hylan led off the third with a double followed by a Jaicee Downs RBI single. Downs then scored from second to take advantage of a Hamden Hall throwing error off Danyluk’s hard hit. Hamden Hall tied in the third with both sides trading quick outs in the fourth and fifth innings. In the top of the sixth, Danyluk hit a huge triple and scored on an RBI infield groundout from Ann Najork.
The Millbrook defense proceeded to notch consecutive 1-2-3 innings, neutralizing the heart of the Hamden Hall lineup and preserving the one-run lead. Congratulations to the entire team on the Western New England Class C co-championship!
