Talent Shines at Winter Arts Night

Millbrook School’s robust art programming attracts young performing artists from all over the world. Each semester, these talented creatives put on a variety show in the Chelsea Morrison Theater at Holbrook Arts Center, showcasing their hard work in solo and ensemble pieces.

This year’s Winter Arts Night, hosted by Marcus Vega ’25 and Marcus Paul Jr. ’27, featured musical, dance, and spoken-word performances, many with a holiday theme. As Vega pointed out to open the show, “This evening is more than just a performance—it’s a holiday party where art takes center stage.”

The show began with a rousing performance of “Killing Me Softly with His Song” by the Millbrook Singers, accompanied by Art Department Director Joe Raciti on piano. Jazz ensemble The Groove then treated the audience to a medley of songs.

Following the musical performances, students from Millbrook’s playwriting and dance classes presented mashups of spoken word, images, and interpretive movement. Some of the pieces had been developed earlier in the semester with the help of visiting playwright and director Neil LaBute.

Shifting back to music, Jamie Katis ‘25 and Chau Nguyen ‘25 delivered a delightful country song and dance routine. Then, the Honors Theater class took the stage to perform stirring monologues from various works, ranging from Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” to 2001 musical “The Last Five Years.”

Next up, Millbrook Dance presented a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, which was followed by another medley from The Groove.

Arts Night ended on a festive note, as a guitar ensemble joined the Millbrook Singers to lead the gathering in a closing Christmas carol.
