Millbrook Girls Fall to Hotchkiss but Post PRs Across the Team!
Coach Havard
Friday, Oct. 11th, Millbrook girls traveled with the boys' team to Trinity-Pawling School, where we raced Hotchkiss on TP's relatively flat, fast course. Andy Sassatelli '28 anticipated a battle with Caleigh Lane, Hotchkiss's number one runner, who had posted a fast time in the D1 race at the Canterbury Invitational earlier this season. Deciding to go out hard, Sassatelli passed the mile mark in 5:45, and she continued to open her lead over the entire race, passing many of the boy racers who had started five minutes before the girls, and finishing in a remarkable PR of 17:50.
Millbrook's 2-4 runners, Selina Hung '27, Jaicee Downs '26, and Ingrid Schmitt '26, all ran personal bests as well, taking 5th, 8th, and 9th overall. Selina sprinted by two Hotchkiss runners in the final mile, beating them in an exciting finish, by four and seven seconds respectively. Jaicee and Ingrid were next in for Millbrook, each surpassing racing goals they had set for themselves. Estella Brandenberg '26, Hailey Mesard '25, and Anya Kelmanovich '28 completed Millbrook's squad, also in their best times of the season. While Hotchkiss bested the team overall, it was a competitive, satisfying day of racing. The team enjoyed an off-Saturday and will be ready to train hard to face Kent on our home course next weekend!
