Millbrook has a long history of competitive interscholastic tennis and has been a fixture in the Class C New England tournament. Through competition, we believe that we can aid the progress and future development of each student-athlete on the varsity and JV teams—as tennis players and as people. Most importantly, our program believes that creating supportive team chemistry is the basis for any successful high school athletic team.
Thanks to four newly resurfaced indoor courts and four outdoor hard courts, Millbrook has the advantage of getting court time early in the season and having few, if any, matches canceled! Tryouts begin at the end of spring break and are followed by a rigorous four-day practice schedule. The typical training session includes dynamic stretching exercises, agility work, technique and strategy discussions and drills, and ladder-challenge matches. Practices usually conclude with a strength and conditioning segment, a cool down, and always some fun and games.
A Millbrook tennis player is well prepared for the difficult team matches ahead, which are held every Wednesday and Saturday. Our Schedule features tough Class C teams like class champions St. Luke’s and Greens Farms Academy. Additionally, we play larger rival schools Kent and Berkshire. Our players have gone on to play in college at St. Lawrence, Trinity, Lafayette, and Hamilton College in recent years.
Our JV program is a true feeder program. Usually, 50% of our team played JV at one time while at Millbrook. In 2022, the JV team went undefeated—the first undefeated Tennis team at Millbrook since 1977! Not only do we have a spot for you at your current level, but we will do our best to develop you into a varsity player by the time you graduate!
Our coaches strive to enable each student-athlete to be the best they can be on and off the court. Having respect for opponents, displaying a good attitude at all times, and staying dedicated to working hard for the best results are always foremost in the minds of our athletes.
