Squash - Boys Varsity
2024 - 2025
Head Coach: Tyler Gundrum
The boys varsity squash team regularly competes in New Englands for the championship title, and they were named Class B champions in 2018 and earned second place in 2012. The team competes in a state-of-the-art, eight-court facility, which opened in October of 2012.
League matches are on most Wednesdays and Saturdays during the winter season and practices all other days except Sunday. With plentiful court space, practice time can be extended beyond that of most of our competitors. Practices consist of warm-ups, with creative dynamic stretches, drills that focus on consistency, and ladder challenge matches that are often hotly contested and exciting to watch! Those varsity team members who are aspiring coaches themselves have a chance to assist with junior squash clinics on Sundays and with squash camps for local kids from the community during the summer.
During the season, the schedule gets busy with the Hopkins tournament kicking things off in December. There are league matches against schools such as Hotchkiss, Salisbury, and Berkshire in January and February. All individual varsity matches are recorded by US Squash and will determine the students’ national ranking which is often important for college recruiters. Many Millbrook graduates go on to enjoy collegiate squash careers at such schools as St. Lawrence, Hobart, Colby, Connecticut College, Bates and others.
