Turning a Corner?

The girls JV soccer team gets stronger.
The girls JV soccer team brought just ten students to an away match against an Ethel Walker squad almost twice the size, which didn't stop the Mustangs from putting up a seriously competitive effort. Our opponent graciously agreed to play 8v8, which meant the girls had to cover more of the pitch than they had in prior games. Despite the challenges, the Mustangs hit the goal post on two occasions, and missed just left on another fantastic scoring chance after Merritt Sheffield, making her debut for the team, beat the Ethel Walker keeper on a breakaway. Merritt scored the lone goal for Millbrook after ripping an absolute rocket shot into the top of the net. The Mustangs also enjoyed standout performances from our defensive core, as well as from first-time goalies Minh Anh Hoang and Lisette Lacroix, and center-forward Anabelle Siklos, who earned several good breakaway chances during the match. The girls keep getting better, which is a testament to their hard work, belief in themselves, and support of their teammates.
