Student improv troupe, The Franciscos, closed out Millbrook’s 2024 Winter Arts Night with a wonderfully witty and silly interactive performance. The group warmed up by answering rapid-fire questions, and then got down to business, performing and inviting the audience to participate in various improv games.

Mad Libs — Assigned a setting and relationship, trios of performers acted out a scene, stopping to ask the audience to complete their sentences. Millbrook-related settings and characters dominated the action.
House Party — A host welcomed performers to a party. Each guest presented a unique trait that the rest of the party emulated. Students entertained the audience with accents, animal sounds, and dance moves galore!
Slideshow — In this game, one group of students served as fake experts on a topic provided by the audience. Another group of performers then had to create still scenes, or “slides,” that the faux authorities explained. The audience-provided subject, plastic surgery, produced many funny moments.
Good, Bad, Worse — Three performers offered advice on problems shouted out by the audience, providing progressively worse counsel. The questionable advice covered dating and music production.
Alibi — Performers had to talk their way out of a sticky situation, making up excuses as they went. Unfortunately, their increasingly unbelievable alibi didn’t help them escape punishment.
Oracle — The final game featured groups of (you guessed it) three students who linked arms to form all-knowing oracles. They responded to audience questions as one, each speaking one word until a complete answer formed.
If laughter is the best medicine, then the 2024 improv show sent audience members and performers alike to bed in full health and good spirits!
