Millbrook girls call Kent race a highlight of the season

Coach Havard
Kent School's course at Macedonia State Park has many technical elements and is always a tough challenge. Last Saturday, Oct. 23rd, the girls came ready to race, and several runners had PRs for the season.
Many runners had terrific races Saturday, Millbrook's top three girls especially so. Kent's "Gut-buster Hill," just after the first mile, appeared to do in a number of runners, but our hill training "paid the bills," as Coach Schmitt loves to say.  Every Mustang passed opponents on the hill, and several made significant moves before cresting, maneuvering the rock garden, and opening it up on the fast downward slope.  In particular, Co-captain Hannah Coon again took the 3rd spot for Millbrook, fighting hard for 8th place in the race in a time of 24:50, her best of the season. Second place runner Sarah Eagen ran "out of her mind," taking 3rd overall in 22:50 and besting several Kent racers whose times had been faster than hers earlier in the season.  First place Juliet Drury finished in 20:01, more than two and a half minutes before her nearest competitor, and set a new course record on this newly designed course. The other Mustangs competed well too: Aiden Corbin finished 12th, Tracy He 15th, Hailey Mesard 18th and Eliza Withers-Clarke 19th overall.
