Millbrook Honors Beloved Faculty on Giving Day

Aaron Case
Yesterday was Millbrook’s annual Giving Day, and thanks to the hard work and generosity of the entire community, it was one of our most successful yet. A total of 404 donors gave $290,358. Money raised for the Annual Fund directly supports the people and programs that make Millbrook one of the best boarding schools in the world.

Led by the Advancement Office, fundraising efforts included direct outreach to alumni and parents, as current students volunteered their services for a phonathon. The results were overwhelmingly positive:
  • 46 current parents gave $131,031
  • The Class of 2003 led all graduating classes with 54% participation
  • The Class of 1986 led all graduating classes with $22,474 donated
  • 40 past and present faculty and staff participated, giving over $1,250
This year is the first time Giving Day featured various themed challenges that, when reached, resulted in additional gifts by anonymous friends, alumni, and trustees of Millbrook:
  • G.O.L.D. (Graduates of the Last Decade) Challenge: When we reached 100 donors from these young alums, we unlocked $20,000 in additional donations from anonymous alumni.
  • Faculty & Staff Matching Challenge: A close friend of Millbrook pledged to donate $2 for every $1 donated by staff and faculty, up to $5,000. We reached our goal of maximizing that matching donation!
  • Board of Trustees Challenge: When we reached 400 supporters goal, an anonymous trustee donated $50,000!
This year, we asked contributors to donate in honor of the amazing teachers who help shape the lives of our students now and in years past. Donors could leave a note for the person they honored with their gifts.

We received 163 comments thanking faculty for their positive impact. Notes poured in for past faculty like Nancy Keller-Coffey and Bill Hardy, current veterans like Lindsay Peterson and Trip Powers, and even new faces like Scott Ruggles. Administrators also received love—Bob Anthony ’65, Nancy Stahl, Emily Allen, Shannon Vollmer, and even the entire Pearson family, to name just a few.

Thank you to everyone who made Giving Day 2025 a huge success. If you didn’t get to donate this time, you can always do so through our online giving form.
