A slow start plagued Millbrook in the opening round of the Rivers Holiday tournament. In a game against a perennial Class-B playoff team, Beaver Country Day, Millbrook's lethargic offensive play plagued the Mustangs throughout the game. A deep and balanced scoring attack by Beaver saw the Mustangs down by as many as 22 points midway through the second half; however, Millbrook would not quietly into that good night.
Led by a trapping, full-court defense, and high defensive energy from Quinn Mimnaugh and Jayden Reaves, Millbrook mounted a full-on comeback which cut the lead to 6 with only minutes left on the second-half clock. Unfortunately, the second-half whole proved to be too large for the Mustangs to overcome. The loss sees Millbrook drop to 2-3 overall and 1-2 against Class B opponents. No rest for the weary, though, as Millbrook is right back at it at 6:00 pm against 2016 Class-B runner-up Marianapolis Prep.
