No one can say that Millbrook varsity basketball doesn't give the crowd their money's worth. Millbrook found themselves in their third straight back-and-forth affair against Class-A neighbor, Salisbury. In a game where neither team led by more than six points, Millbrook played all eleven players dressed and saw seven players score. The first half was a great defensive effort for the Mustangs, holding Salisbury to 24 total points for the half. Unfortunately, Millbrook could not get their offensive mojo working either, tallying only 22 points themselves in the first half.
The song remained the same in the second half, as Millbrook and Salisbury matched each other bucket for bucket until four minutes to go in the game. With four to play, Salisbury finally broke the score somewhat open, going on a 6-0 run. Millbrook answered the bell with a 6-0 run of their own, capped off by a steal and dunk by Kasai Brown '18. As the teams traded three-point jumpers and free throws, Millbrook found themselves down two with 8.8 seconds to go in the game. Off of a broken play designed to get the ball into the lane, Kasai Brown '18 received a pass from Jayden Reaves '19 and knocked down a cold-blooded buzzer-beating three point shot as the clock expired. What a win for the Mustangs!
Kudos to all those fans, alumni, and parents who were watching via our newly minted live stream service. It was fantastic to receive so much love from those Mustang fans across the world. Kudos to an energetic and lively student and faculty section today, as well! Millbrook will be back in action on Saturday, 1/13 at 3:00 when they host Class-B foe, Marianapolis Prep!
