Millbrook Girls Take Third at the NEPSTA Division IV Cross Country Championships

Coach Havard
The girls ended their season on November 9th with a hard-fought race on a rugged course at the Hyde School in Bath, Maine.
Coming off of back-to-back championships, Millbrook's girls cross country runners anticipated a tough race and were ready to compete.  Kents Hill School's Anne McKee established a big lead in the first mile, while Sarah Dietrich '16 and Kelsey McEvoy '16 battled for spots amidst the top 20, each battling hard against a runner from Chase Collegiate School.  Dietrich finished 6th in 20:51, and McEvoy finished 12th in 21:47, both in excellent times, but each just behind the Chase girls.

Millbrook's remaining runners in the top seven finished within a minute of one another, with Isabel Seaborn'16 in 32nd in 23:36, Amanda Clizbe '17 in 35th in 23:51 - her best run of the season, Anna Waldschmidt'15 in 38th 24 flat, Kerry Carr '18 in 40th in 24:09, and Charlotte Kasmin '15 in 47th in 24:29 - all strong finishes in the 110-girl race.   In the end, Kents Hill and Chase Collegiate  had five and four runners in the top 30 respectively, and so took first and second in the meet.  Millbrook finished third with 99 points. In the jv race, Elizabeth Couse '15, Olivia Galli '16, Camillia Ford '16, Sarah Collins '17, and Madison Morehead '16 competed as a full team for Millbrook, taking 4th place overall.  Congratulations to the whole team for a terrific season, and to Sarah Dietrich and Kelsey McEvoy for earning spots on the all-star team.  Captains Anna Waldschmidt and Charlotte Kasmin were true leaders, and the returning runners are already talking about getting ready for next season.  Thanks to our parents for all your support!
