Edward Opoku '15 Signs with MLS

Millbrook alumnus Edward Opoku '15 signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer (MLS). The offer makes him eligible for the MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia, which will happen on January 19th.

"After a long discussion with my family and UVA, I am honred and blessed to have received a Generation Adidas offer from MLS. I am forever grateful to God, Right to Dream, Millbrook School, and UVA for getting me this far! Time to keep working even harder," said Opoku '15 in a statement about the opportunity.

Opoku '15, who played for the Division I Virginia Cavaliers, earned All-ACC honors during his first two seasons, which included being named to the ACC-All Freshman Team. In his first two years at the University of Virginia, Opoku '15 played in 36 games, starting in all but three. He was second on his team in goals scored during the 2016 season with a total of six, five of which served as game-winners. He was first on his team in goals scored this past season with a total of eight, three of which were game-winners. In his '16-'17 season he was also selected for 2nd Team All-American by the USCAA. These are some of the many accomplishments and honors earned by Opoku '15 during his college career.

"I am proud and excited to see Edward take another step toward his dream. As a Mustang, he shined on and off the field, earning numerous accolades. I’m sure this success will continue as his career progresses," said Millbrook Athletic Director Brian Krauss.

During his time as a Mustang, Opoku '15 scored 80 goals, served up 30 assists, and totalled 110 points (a Millbrook record). He was also a WNEPSSA all-select player each of his 4 years at Millbrook.

We are thrilled for Opoku '15 and his well-deserved opportunity, and look forward to following him in the MLS SuperDraft and beyond!
