Mustangs Stay Mentally Tough, but Couldn’t Get the Timely Hits

Coming off Monday’s tough road loss v King, the Mustangs set the goal to stay mentally tough today. They were successful in this goal. The Mustangs had tight defense – not facing more than 5 Kent batters in any inning (with most innings only 3 or 4 Kent batters facing Danyluk in the circle). Kent was able to scratch together one run in the first, third, and fourth inning.

The Mustangs had baserunners in 5 of the innings but could not string together timely hits to score runs. Tommi Nash hit a nice triple and Natalia Danyluk and Morgan Reed added singles on the day. Abby Hylan and Evelynn Najork also reached base on walks after good pitch selection.

Defensively, the Mustangs stayed focused and rebounded well when mistakes happened. Almost every infielder made an over the head pop-up catch, and there were some nice catches by outfielder Jess Trocchio. Natalia Danyluk threw 8 strikeouts on the day.

The Mustangs look forward to welcoming GFA at home this Saturday for Family Weekend.
