The team loaded on the bus for yet another road game against Holy Child. Right from the opening kickoff, the girls came out flying and immediately established their possession game with great 1-2 combination passing. Seven minutes into the game, Millbrook was awarded a free kick 30 yards out. Maura Terry took the free kick with the intent to serve it into the box, however her shot carried further and went through the keeper's hands for the opening tally. It would only be another minute when Terry served a corner kick into the box. With the ball bouncing around the six, Naomi Ofosuhemma flicked it to a waiting Aurdry Lepore who knocked it in for a 2nd goal. The score would stand for nearly the rest of the half before Jazmin Mejia served a through ball to a streaking Merritt Tessier. Tessier found herself all alone with the Holy Child's keeper and slid the ball into the back of the net for goal number 3. The second half saw a few more chances for Millbrook but we were unable to add to the score. At the other end of the field, the back line of Sophia Sorriento, Maura Terry, Mary LaFond, Piper Smith and keeper Kat LaFond held tight to limit Child's shots, and to preserve the shutout for LaFond. Next up, Ethel Walker.
