Mustangs Fall to Westover, 5-12

The Millbrook Varsity Softball team traveled to Westover on Saturday, losing 12-5 to the Wildcats. It was a back-and-forth affair for most of the game, with the two teams trading leads, until Westover broke it open in the fifth. There were many bright spots for the young Millbrook squad, however - Carina Mancini '21 and Nikki Bessinger '21 each went 3-for-4, with Mancini crushing a triple and a home run for an RBI and three runs scored. Bessinger had three RBI of her own, and Jackie Crowley '20 and Madison Connelly '19 scored runs as well. Mancini also pitched the complete game and threw six strikeouts. Three Mustangs - An Tran '22, Ripley Sobo '22, and Daina Velez '21 - made their Millbrook softball debuts. The Mustangs will have their home opener on Wednesday, hosting Cheshire at 3:30.
