Mustangs Fall to St. Luke's, 11-1

The Millbrook Varsity Softball team lost 11-1 to perennial Clsss C power St. Luke's on Wednesday. The Storm jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, though the Mustangs fought hard to the end and made good contact on the ball. Millbrook's run came in the third, when Helene Apollon '19 walked, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and then scored on a grounder by Alyssa McLeod '19. Jackie Crowley '20 singled in the inning as well. Defensively, McLeod had a stellar game in right, including a beautiful grab on a screaming line drive towards her. Tommi Nash '22 had a nice play on a hard hit ground ball to third, and Crowley made some nice stretches at first base as well. Piper Strautman '21 had a solid pitching debut, getting stronger as the game went on and striking out three. Millbrook will host Gunnery on Saturday.
