We welcomed perennial Class C power St Luke's on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. With revenge on our mind from last year's NE semi-final loss, we gave them all they could handle in a long 3–4 match. Vivian and Estee jumped out to a lead early and never looked back, winning in straight sets. Lucy and Emelia played a true back-and-forth match against solid opponents and made just enough volleys to secure a 6–4, 7–6 victory. Bea and Captain Lily couldn't break through and lost in straight sets.
Inside, the singles were very competitive. Catherine faced a big server on our fast surface and lost in straight sets. Ireland lost a tough first-set tiebreaker and then the second set by one break. Sophie was outlasted by a very consistent player at No. 4. With both teams watching, there was just No. 2 singles, and Maggie put on a show. After dropping the first set, she battled back to win the second 6–2. A ten-point tiebreaker would decide the match. Long rallies characterized the incredibly gritty play by both players. At 6–6 Maggie ripped off three straight points and then secured the 10–7 win. A good match.
