The 2025 Writers Guild Awards were held earlier this month, and one of our own won big. Elisabeth (Seldes) Annacone ’81 took home the award in the TV & Streaming Motion Pictures category for her HBO Max movie “The Great Lillian Hall.”

A writer, producer, and director, Annacone studied for her MFA at UCLA after her time at Millbrook, going on to become a VP at MGM Studios. In addition to “The Great Lillian Hall,” she is known for her production work on movies like “Wall Street” (1987), “Buddy” (1997), and “Disturbing Behavior” (1998). She also wrote and directed the short film “The Changing Room” (2017).

“The Great Lillian Hall” premiered on May 31, 2024, and is inspired by the story of Annacone’s aunt Marian Seldes, a Tony Award winning actress and member of the American Theater Hall of Fame. The film stars Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates, the latter of whom was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Edith Wilson.

Congratulations to Annacone and her family for this monumental achievement!
